Fab Owners Association to Join SEMI as Strategic Association Partner

Increases opportunities for growth and prosperity of the association

SAN JOSE, Calif. – July 15, 2016 – SEMI, the global industry association advancing the interests of the worldwide electronics supply chain, and the Fab Owners Association (FOA), an international group of semiconductor and MEMS fab owners and suppliers, today announced that the FOA has become a SEMI Strategic Association Partner. Dedicated to the growth and prosperity of its members, this inter-industry partnership offers the FOA increased growth opportunities and benefits current members through an enhanced, wider breadth of services. The agreement also provides a mutually-beneficial link between the FOA and SEMI’s more than 2,000 members, allowing broader visibility to the electronics manufacturing supply chain and opening new opportunities for collaboration throughout the ecosystem.

The FOA is an international nonprofit trade association of semiconductor and MEMS fab owners and industry suppliers, who meet regularly to discuss and act on common manufacturing issues, combining strengths and resources to increase semiconductor manufacturing efficiencies to become more competitive. As a SEMI Strategic Association Partner within SEMI, the FOA will continue to pursue its mission and will retain its own governance and autonomy with regard to charter and activities. L.T. Guttadauro, executive director of FOA, will become executive director emeritus with a SEMI representative serving as executive director of the FOA.

“The long and mutually fulfilling history of the FOA working with SEMI, coupled with SEMI’s global reach in Standards, Advocacy, and Market Research platforms, makes SEMI the ideal partner,” said L.T. Guttadauro. “SEMI’s global operations will bring a new level of engagement and additional services to FOA members, and will reduce the FOA’s association management costs.”

“As the industry has changed, SEMI has adapted,” said Denny McGuirk, president and CEO of SEMI.  “Our members requested SEMI provide more platforms and opportunities for pre-competitive collaboration with industry segments throughout the electronics manufacturing supply chain.  We developed the Strategic Association Partnership as a hub-and-spoke linkage to other association communities to provide collaboration and connection and access to SEMI’s range of member services – while enabling that linked community to conduct their business autonomously for the specific interests of their members.”
